A Norfolk wedding |
The date of our wedding is April 2nd 2011 and we are hoping for all our family and friends to be there. The wedding will be held on the beautiful North Norfolk coast where we have had many special family holidays. Email: clarelucy.wedding@gmail.com |
I haven’t posted for ages, because we’ve had a bit of a change of plan for the big day. Instead of having the wedding at Titchwell we have decided to have a marquee wedding in Thornham. I say marquee, but these stunning tents aren’t your usual marquee.
Titchwell have been totally great, we just decided we wanted a bit more space and flexibility. Thanks to the help of some lovely Thornham villagers we have been able to organise the use of the old cricket ground. Exciting times.

Saw these lovely candle lanterns on Not on the High Street. They would make great decorations for the Garden at Titchwell Manor.

Obviously we want as many of our guests as possible to stay with us at Titchwell Manor. We have booked out all the rooms at Titchwell for the Friday night before the wedding and the night of the wedding so it should be good fun and they will be taking awesome care of us because they are lovely lovely people and this is where the wedding party will stay.
However, if you would prefer to stay somewhere else and are looking for recommendations, I can strongly recommend The Victoria at Holkham. It is about 20 minutes drive along the coast road from Thornham (where my parents cottage is) and Titchwell (where the wedding is).
Personally I’ve never stayed but I have been to the pub and restaurant there many times. My favourite thing about it is the loung area with the most comfortable sofas in the whole world next to a huge fireplace. The very best place in the world to while away a couple of hours with paper and a glass of wine or they do a very nice afternoon tea as well.

They also have various holiday cottages and lodges which look lovely and would be well worth looking at.
The hotel is owned by Viscount Coke and is on the edge of his huge estate with beautiful ancestral house and grounds. As I’ve mentioned Holkham beaches are some of the best in the area (though in my opinion Brancaster and Thornham still win out)

Hooray!
Today we finally booked Titchwell Manor for the 2nd of April 2011 for our wedding. Last week the gorgeous Tanya Hudson and I travelled up to Norfolk to take a look at Chaucer Barn, Titchwell and a couple of other venues. Titchwell won out in the end because it is such a big part of our family’s experience of Norfolk. They always look after us so well whenever we go there, and I know they will do us proud on the day.
So, next steps are Save the Date notifications for everyone and booking the photographer. Then I hope we can just chill for a while!

I wanted to start a blog so that I had a home for my ever growing stack of ideas for the wedding.
We have a venue http://www.titchwellmanor.com/ which is the first big step. We’ve already started chatting with Eric (Head Chef) there and are pretty excited about the food which is going to be a very important part of the day!
As we are getting married at the beginning of April we are looking forward to a spring menu. I think it has got to be lamb & spring veg. We want to do something special for the deserts, and of course we have to have cheese!
