To cake or not to cake, that is the question
All these cakes are beautiful but option 4 looks like a winner to me. I reckon its a vanilla coconut cake - like we had for Nate’s naming ceremony. Yes it has to be pretty but it also has to TASTE LIKE YUM.

Potential bridesmaid dresses from J Crew
JCrew don’t ship to the UK (boo) happily I have family in the States who could order some of these lovely, simple dresses for me. With range of colours, shapes and materials that allow you to mix and match they are ideal bridesmaid dresses. Coast is our best equivalent over here and I don’t think the quality is as high. Lovely.

A Jenny Packham Dress (or two) that I've fallen in...
It’s the princessy skirts. Think I prefer the 1st, the 2nd dress though gorgeous starts to veer into meringue territory for me. Found at http://www.jennypackham.com/

Matthew Williamson has just launched his beautiful first bridal collection on Net-a-Porter bridal boutique and it isn’t to be missed. Here is a sample. Modern, romantic and totally gorgeous.

Temperley Gorgeousness
Another dress on the list. Floaty beauty. Again from Net-a-Porter’s Wedding boutique. The dress is Alice Temperley. Here is the blurb from Net’s editors: “Temperley London’s cream silk-chiffon cross-back gown makes a romatic wedding choice. Indulgently embellished with gold beads and mother-of-pearl, this floor-sweeping piece is the perfect dress for glamorous...

A new plan
I haven’t posted for ages, because we’ve had a bit of a change of plan for the big day. Instead of having the wedding at Titchwell we have decided to have a marquee wedding in Thornham. I say marquee, but these stunning tents aren’t your usual marquee. Titchwell have been totally great, we just decided we wanted a bit more space and flexibility. Thanks to the help of some lovely...

A tale of two teas
So as previously mentioned, I’m helping lovely Tanya organise a tea party. Technically nothing to do with my wedding except being good practice, and the fact I’m thinking of a tea party for my hen do. Anyway I’ve prepared a couple of inspiration boards to try to discover what kind she would like… either: 1) A pretty vintage tea party (inspired by my post below) Teacup...

Pretty Vintage Hire
(Photo copywrite Pretty Vintage Hire) Our wedding isn’t going to be a “vintage” wedding with all the lovely chintzy tea cups and saucers and bunting (but I can picture that version of the wedding soooo easily!) but I’m thinking I might do a vintage tea party for my hen-do.  Pretty Vintage Hire  seems to be the best place in Norfolk to hire all the gorgeous vintage...

Beautiful Dress by Matthew Williamson
Obviously my dress has to be a secret, but over the next year I will be blogging lots of beautiful dresses I see. So don’t get too overexcited, this isn’t necessarily “the one.” I’m just delighting in it’s sparkly gorgeousness from the brilliant net-a-porter wedding boutique. Matthew Williamson embellished silk chiffon gown. Net-a-porter editor’s...

First gathering of the Bridesmaids...Coming Soon.
The gorgeous Hannah and Amy are joining me for the Mayday Bank Holiday for the official wedding kick off. Up til then it has pretty much been me and my computer (as well as helpful input from Mum and Dylan!) Sooo looking forward to a weekend with my best girls, and we will be going out for a lovely meal and cocktails to celebrate. I’m also thinking we should watch Monsoon Wedding which...

Pure spring gorgeousness
I was browsing Style Me Pretty today and came across this beautiful Californian wedding. In general it is a bit to frou frou for me (and definitely too frou frou for Dylan). But I love this particular image for the rose petals on the grass. I can imagine walking through them in a long flowing dress with sandals on and feeling the petals on my toes. Delicious! Photography by Megan Sorel and...

i LOVE biscuiteers
My truly delightful friend Helen just sent me a delicius (post)birthday biscuit as she heard that I had missed out on my birthday tea at Claridges (which would be a great thing to do for a kick off to a London Hen Party btw). Anyway this was not just any biscuit. It was a gorgeous cakey, iced biscuit in the shape of a birthday cake. I’m ashamed to say I ate it before I thought to photograph...

A very Un-Norfolk wedding
Do you remember those early days when you haven’t set anything to do with your wedding in stone? Each day you flit between different (and ususally out of this world expensive) ideas. One day you’re getting married at Skibo Castle in the Highlands (where Madonna got married) the next you are getting having a gorgeous London wedding at Chelsea Town Hall followed by a Champagne reception...

A Norfolk Wedding LOVES... Marianne Taylor
I am delighted to say that we have booked Marianne Taylor to be our wedding photographer. Could I be any more excited? (No. I couldn’t.) After sorting our guest list and booking our venue the photographer was the most important thing to me. Marianne describes her style of wedding photography as “creative reportage” and it basically means that she captures all of the most...

Table decorations
As Titchwell Manor has a beautiful herb garden, it might be nice to incorperate that into some of the design elements like invitations and perhaps table design… I thought that when I saw this lovely piece on Etsy We could use a different herb for each table like Rosemary, Sage and Thyme.

POM LOVE!
No pom love is not what I give Dylan, but a fabulous Etsy artisan who produces these beautiful “poms” for decorations at weddings and parties. Some of her fabulous work… (This one called “Mint Julep” is possibly my favourite but she has literally hundreds of colours to choose from…) And she can also make mobils with them… As well as Pomfetti...

Places to stay : The Victoria @ Holkham
Obviously we want as many of our guests as possible to stay with us at Titchwell Manor. We have booked out all the rooms at Titchwell for the Friday night before the wedding and the night of the wedding so it should be good fun and they will be taking awesome care of us because they are lovely lovely people and this is where the wedding party will stay. However, if you would prefer to stay...

Follow up on Chaucer Barn
Chaucer Barn in Gresham near Holt is a beautiful boutique self catering property. We decided not to have our wedding there for it for 2 reasons 1) It is a bit far away from “our” Norfolk which is really centred around Thornham, Brancaster and surrounding area. We realised that the week leading up to the wedding would be really important to us. We want to be able to entertain at...

Mae Mae Paperie
I am very excited to be talking to the delightful Megan Gonzalez from Mae Mae Paperie in LA about designing our wedding stationary. As you can see from the suite above for Jan and Ben’s reception - see more details about this work here. We won’t be having as many pieces as this particular couple, but would be lovely to have a few beautiful pieces from lovely Mae Mae!

Cley Windmill
Right, if you want to stay somewhere a bit unusual when you come up for the wedding then my recommendation would be Cley Windmill. Its a bit further up the coast from Titchwell Manor where we are having the wedding but it was rated by the Independent in the Top 50 British hotels of 2010 and also features in Alistair Sawday’s famous guides of Special Places to Stay. Interestingly Cley...

Donna Hay - My dream wedding planner
Donna Hay doesn’t plan weddings (to my knowledge) but if she did they’d probably be the best weddings in the world. All of our Australian side of the wedding party will know all about her. She is an Australian food writer and stylist and her food is delicious (she has published lots of recipe books) but it also looks beautiful. Simple and very stylish. I’ve included a few of her...

Save the Date - Stationary Dilemma
So, now that we have the date decided we need to get our stationary sorted. This is a tricky one… Most of the prettiest wedding stationary I have seen has been from the States. It’s frustrating as I know there must be some delicious British bespoke wedding stationary designers but I’m seriously struggling to find them. Right now I’m loving Bellafigura.com for their...

April 2nd Confirmed at Titchwell Manor!
Hooray! Today we finally booked Titchwell Manor for the 2nd of April 2011 for our wedding. Last week the gorgeous Tanya Hudson and I travelled up to Norfolk to take a look at Chaucer Barn, Titchwell and a couple of other venues. Titchwell won out in the end because it is such a big part of our family’s experience of Norfolk. They always look after us so well whenever we go there, and I know...

Feeling Inspired
I’m loving wedding blogs at the moment, and wedding planning in general. A wonderful combination of food, fun, dresses, style, music and entertaining to be planned. One of my favourite wedding blogs Style Me Pretty covered this wedding in Anapolis, USA and I am loving the colours used. Foundation of white and green, so fresh and the gorgeous blues really add depth. The light blue used for...

Wedding Planning
I wanted to start a blog so that I had a home for my ever growing stack of ideas for the wedding. We have a venue http://www.titchwellmanor.com/ which is the first big step. We’ve already started chatting with Eric (Head Chef) there and are pretty excited about the food which is going to be a very important part of the day! As we are getting married at the beginning of April we are...
